WHAT WE MAKE
WHY SHOULD CAST IRON BE SO HEAVY?
WE’VE CHANGED THAT
High thermal mass is the desirable characteristic of cast iron that delivers the searing heat. But you don’t cook on the sides of your pan. With thinner side-walls and a thicker heat plate our design changes the traditional geometry.
ROUGH IS NOT A NON-STICK SURFACE
We do things differently. We don’t grind our pans or mill them down from rough heavy castings. We cast them with a smooth finish, then we polish all the surfaces - not just the cooking surface - to make them less likely to scratch your stone counters or a glass cooktop. A smooth surface allows food to lift easily, when cooking or cleaning.
BEAUTY SHAPES OUR CONCEPT OF UTILITY
We believe that the tools we touch every day should be a pleasure to look at and comfortable to use.
Our handles conform to the natural angle of your arm, placing less stress on the wrist when picking up the pan. The large tab encourages using two hands whenever possible.
WE ARE PROUD TO BE SLOW
We believe we can make a better cast iron pan but to do so we couldn’t compromise our specifications to the constraints of machine casting. Our cookware is hand-cast in limited quantities in our own innovative foundry process.
