The ins and outs of all things Butter Pat.
HOW TO CLEAN YOUR PAN
There’s one piece of use-and-care advice we give to all of our customers: clean your damn pans. The internet offers a lot of useless advice on how exactly to go about this, but we lean toward common sense.
CONDITION YOUR PAN
If there is one piece of advice that we could give you, dear reader, about caring for your cast iron, it would be plain and simple: clean it. And the second? Store it properly. After all, we’ve made you a skillet that will last a hundred years or more, but it’s your job to keep it that way, and that last step is an vital part of the process.
PAN CARRYING 101
On every Butter Pat skillet, there is an elegant feature that serves both style and function. The tab at the top of your pan—as well as the bottom, for owners of our Homers, Erics, and Joes—aren’t just meant to be a nameplate for our brand; we want you to use them. When you pick up a piece of cast iron, especially a big one like the Joan or Lili, you should always be using two hands.
HAULING YOUR PANS
There are a few times in life when it’s worth taking the easy route. And when it comes to heaving your cast iron around, the Heavy Hauler is one of them.
HOW TO OIL YOUR PAN
We’ve talked a lot about cleaning your cast iron. With soap. (Yes, soap.) With water. Followed by a thorough drying. But what do you after that, before putting your pan away?
INTRODUCING DROP LIDS
Inspired by the Japanese otoshi buta and French cartouche, our food-safe, cypress-wood drop lids are on sale now, made right here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and available in three sizes to pair with the Heather, Homer, Joan, Lili, and Joe.
